Bio:

Opie Hileman was born in Panhandle, Texas in 1980. He's studied at the Pacific Northwest College of Art, Oregon College of Art and Craft and the Pilchuck Glass School. His work has been selected for solo and group exhibitions across the US and has been featured in American Art Collector, New Glass Review and Art Glass Today. Hileman resides in Portland, Oregon where he continues his practice as an artist.



Statement:

I'm a multidisciplinary artist, working in sculpture, painting, video and sound. My paintings and sculpture are abstract in nature and consist of bold, expressive marks, colors, textures, shapes and forms. I'm influenced by examining the construct of value and worth, beauty vs crudeness, acceptance vs rejection. In a time of constant stimulus, the goal of my art is to provide the viewer space to engage their own internal dialog, feelings and experience.
